Extravia Live is hosting a gaming tournament to celebrate the anniversary. The current game of choice is Wings of Fire, the MMO designed around crewing a small combat vessel largely against sophisticated AI opponents. This year, however, the tournament will be all PvP, with two-person teams going head to head across a variety of arenas with a range of win conditions. The team size is subject to change based on the number of sign-ups attending to keep things even and interesting.
Groups can pre-select their teammates or have them randomly assigned when the tournament begins. All rolls will make use of DEX + INT, skills will be fixed based on the 'class' selected. Currently classes for the game include:
- Pilot - The one flying the ship and manning the guns, missiles and bombs
- Engineer - The one repairing the ship or modding it in flight for peak function
- Signaler - The one watching the sensors, defending the ship's computer systems and hacking other vessels
- Medic - The one healing the crew and helping them push past their ordinary limits with helpful 'amps'
Any combination of positions is viable for a successful game, including duplication. Any roles not filled by the PCs will be manned by AIs who follow preset routines and are often far less effective than a PC in the same position (but can still get the job done and respond to some limited direction from the PCs on their crew).
No familiarity with the particular role you select is required going in (a Sirian medic can play a WoF pilot with no disadvantage), so this should provide an opportunity for characters to branch out and same a different style of play, if they wish.
